Recently, Professor Dan Younger uncovered in his office a letter from Bill Tutte written in Newmarket, England, dated July 7, 1996.
The
letter,
which
can
be
viewed
as
a
self-portrait,
describes
the
events
of
the
prior
several
weeks,
including
his
first
visit
to
Bletchley
Park
since
the
end
of
World
War
II.
On November 21, 2014, Professor Younger gave a talk in the Combinatorics and Optimization department about Bill Tutte, using the letter as a reference point from which to view his life and career. Included are some pictures from Professor Younger's recent trip to Newmarket, England, for the unveiling on September 21, 2014, of a memorial in his honour.
