We are thrilled to welcome Emma Brandt to the Communication Arts Department.

The Department of Communication Arts is thrilled to share that Emma Brandt, an AMTD Global Talent Postdoctoral Fellow, joins us from Northwestern University, where she recently completed a PhD in Sociology. Her research focuses on the intersection of trust, information, and media; in her current book project, she examines the role of media in democracy and authoritarianism through ethnography with youth and media literacy organizations in Serbia. Her next project is focused on alternative health movements online in a global and comparative context, looking at the US, Canada, Serbia, and Jordan; at Waterloo, she will be working with Dr. Jordana Cox and Dr. Shana MacDonald.
