Communication Studies Program Awards

  • The Third Year Department Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Communication Studies award goes to the 3rd year Communication Studies major who has the highest cumulative average.
  • The Senior Student Department Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement in Communication Studies award goes to the 4th year student Communication Studies major who has the highest cumulative average.
  • The Award for Excellent Performance, Paper, or Academic Project goes to the Communication Studies major or minor who produced the most outstanding example of academic work in one or more Communication Studies classes during the previous year.  That work might be a speech, performance, paper, or other project (or multiple pieces of such work) that stands out for its brilliance, especially in terms of the way it meets the Communication Studies Program objectives.  Students or faculty in the Communication Studies Program may nominate students by sending the outstanding work to the Undergraduate Advisor.
  • The Sylvia Hannigan Award for Excellence in Citizenship, Community Engagement, or Service goes to the Communication Studies major(s) or minor(s) who engaged in outstanding activities outside the classroom in the previous year as they applied what they have learned in the service of extracurricular goals.  The Communication Studies program seeks to recognize a student, or students, for the ways in which they demonstrated an imagination for the public good beyond the classroom.  Students or faculty in the Communication Studies Program may nominate students by sending a description of the service work that was undertaken in a brief letter to the Undergraduate Advisor.
