Marisa previously completed an MSc in environmental policy and regulation at the London School of Economics and also holds a graduate degree in business administration from the University of Mannheim in Germany. Research for both her master’s theses focused on climate change economics, one critically discussing different approaches to estimating the cost of climate change mitigation in Germany and the other exploring the behaviour of private investors under the Kyoto Protocol’s financial mechanisms. Before coming to Waterloo in 2012 Beck worked as an analyst for global carbon markets with a leading research and information provider for carbon and clean energy markets in London, U.K.
