The CM Winter 2026 Research Presentation took place on April 7, 2026. At the event, Anders Conect was recognized as the recipient of the Best Speaker Award.
Anders’s research, titled Structured Preconditioners for Smith Form Computations, studies how random structured matrix transformations can simplify Smith form computation for nonsingular polynomial matrices. The work shows that random triangular Toeplitz matrices can, with high probability, make these computations more efficient.
