The University of Waterloo community gathers twice a year to celebrate the awarding of degrees at convocation. Faculty, staff, students, and their guests get together for this very special event. Honorary degrees are also presented at these ceremonies. Each convocation ceremony lasts approximately two hours.
Convocation ceremonies take place in the main gymnasium of the Physical Activities Complex (PAC). See maps and parking details for more information.
To ensure fairness, each graduate receives a limited number of guest tickets. All grads and guests must register, and tickets are required for entry. If extra tickets become available, registered grads will be notified after the registration deadline. A livestream will be available for those who are unable to attend.
Graduates and guests will receive digital programs as keepsakes. They will be posted the week of convocation.
The University of Waterloo upholds freedom of expression while maintaining a respectful, inclusive environment. Violence, hate speech, and actions disrupting convocation are prohibited. Visit our Freedom of Expression website for more details.
