The Canada Research Training Awards Suite – Research Travel Supplements (CRTAS-RTS) provide additional funding to active master’s and doctoral award holders to help offset the costs of undertaking research travel within Canada or outside Canada for a defined period.
Program
An award, valued at $5,000 will be awarded annually to a full-time graduate student entering the Masters of Accounting program in the School of Accounting and Finance in the Faculty of Arts. Selection will be based on academic excellence in their undergraduate program combined with extracurricular involvement or participation in volunteer activities.
An award, valued at $3,000, will be awarded annually in the winter term to a graduate student who is registered full-time in the Master of Taxation program in the School of Accounting and Finance in the Faculty of Arts.
An award, valued at $1,500, will be awarded annually to a full-time graduate student enrolled in any research-based master’s or doctoral program in the School of Critical and Creative Humanities in the Faculty of Arts.
Scholarships valued at $3,000 will be awarded to women-identifying students registered full time in a research-based master’s or doctoral program in the Cheriton School of Computer Science, wherein women are underrepresented. This scholarship is funded by contributions to Women in Computer Science.
Two scholarships, valued at up to $15,000 each, will be provided annually to international graduate students registered full time in their first term of a research-based master’s program in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering (MME) in the Faculty of Engineering.
A scholarship, valued at $4,000, will be awarded annually to a full-time graduate student enrolled in the Sustainable Energy specialization of the Master of Engineering (MEng) program in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering.
Three scholarships valued at $10,000 each will be provided annually to international graduate students who are or will be registered full-time in a research-based master’s or doctoral program in the Faculty of Engineering.
An award, valued at $10,000, will be provided annually to a full-time, woman-identifying undergraduate or graduate student engaged in Velocity. Selection is based on the impact the award will have on the candidate’s ability to pursue their educational and entrepreneurial goals.
Scholarships valued at $5,000 each will be awarded each term to graduate students registered full time or part time in a doctoral program in any department or faculty at the University of Waterloo. Interested students must identify as Black* and must have obtained a minimum cumulative average of 75% or equivalent in their current or most recently completed program.
