Award description:
An award valued at $5,000 will be provided annually to a full-time graduate student enrolled in the master’s or doctoral program in the School of Pharmacy in the Faculty of Science. Selection is based on academic excellence (minimum 80% cumulative average in their current program/over the last two full-time academic years) combined with demonstrated interest and involvement in community service. Interested students should submit an application, found on the School of Pharmacy website, by March 1.

This scholarship has been established by Janet McDougall, BSc ’71 to honour her parents, Donald Joseph and Kathleen (Kay) Donihee McDougall. Don was a practicing pharmacist from 1934 through 1993, and loved his profession. Both Don and Kay were community leaders, dedicated volunteers, and civic activists. This award honours their contributions and their belief in service to the community.

Eligibility & selection criteria: 

  • Full-time graduate students registered in the master’s or doctoral program in the School of Pharmacy in the Faculty of Science
  • Selection to be based on academic excellence (minimum 80% cumulative average in their current program/over the last two full-time academic years) and demonstrated interest and involvement in community service
  • An application, that can be found on the School of Pharmacy website is required and will include a 500-word statement outlining the applicant’s involvement and interest in community service as well as at least two letters of reference
  • Applications must be submitted by March 1 to the Administrative Coordinator, Graduate Studies, School of Pharmacy
  • The School of Pharmacy Graduate Studies and Research Committee will select recipients normally each Spring
