Award description:
The Electrical & Computer Engineering International Doctoral Student Award (ECE IDSA), valued at $1,000 per term up to program time limits, will be provided automatically without the need of an award application. Eligible students will be those who are starting a doctoral program as of Fall 2023 and who are in receipt of an International Doctoral Student Award.

Value description:
$1,000 per term up to program time limits. The number of terms a student will receive the award depends on whether or not they were admitted from a completed master’s degree, a bachelor’s degree or transferred from an incomplete master’s to a PhD. For example:

  • Eligible students admitted to a PhD from a master’s will receive the award from terms 1.0 – 12.0.
  • Eligible students admitted to a PhD directly from a bachelor’s degree (PhD3) will receive the award from terms 1.0 – 14.0.
  • Eligible students who transferred from an incomplete master’s (PhD3) will receive the award from the term of transfer (usually term 3.0 or term 4.0) – 14.0.

Eligibility & selection criteria: 

  • Must meet the eligibility requirements of the International Doctoral Student Award (IDSA) managed by Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA).
  • Recipients will be selected by the department Associate Chair based on students receiving an IDSA.
  • This award will be held concurrently with the IDSA.
