Award description:
Two scholarships, valued at $7,500 each, are awarded annually to graduate students in the Department of Psychology who are conducting innovative research on improving the mental health outcomes for children and their families. This could be helping children and adolescents function better in a variety of environments, including school, their peer group or in their family. Students are required to submit an application which can be found on the Department of Psychology website. The deadline to apply is February 15. This award was made possible by the generous contribution of an anonymous donor.

Two Awards, valued at $7,500 each, annually. The period of this defined term award will be from 2025 to 2029. The first selection will be made in Winter term 2025 and the last in Winter term 2029.

Eligibility & selection criteria:

  • Graduate students registered full-time in the department of Psychology.
  • Students must be conducting innovative research on improving mental health outcomes for children and their families.
  • Selection is based on academic achievement (minimum cumulative average of 75% or equivalent over the last two years of full-time study) and their research program.
  • Interested students must apply using the application found on the Department of Psychology website, by February 15; applicants must include a 500-word statement demonstrating how their line of research will have a direct impact on improving the mental health outcomes for children and their families. This could be helping children and adolescents function better in a variety of environments, including school, their peer group or in their family.
  • This award can be held in conjunction with any other funding they may be receiving.
  • A committee comprised of representatives from the Faculty of Arts Department of Psychology will select recipients annually, normally each winter term.
