Award description:
Two scholarships, valued at $10,000 each, will be provided annually to full-time graduate students enrolled in the master's program in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science in the Faculty of Mathematics. Selection will be based on an application for admission to the program and on academic excellence with a minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent. This fund is made possible by a donation from Sandra Dirksen in memory of her late husband, Paul Dirksen who was a pioneer computer scientist at the University of Waterloo.

Eligibility & selection criteria: 

  • Full-time graduate students registered in the master's program in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science in the Faculty of Mathematics.
  • Selection to be based on academic excellence (minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent) and research potential.
  • A specific scholarship application is not required.
  • This scholarship will be awarded in addition to any minimum funding the student is offered.
  • The School of Computer Science will identify candidates and select recipients based on applications for admission with award payments starting in the following fall term.
