This award is now superseded by the Perimeter Institute (PI) Residency Graduate Scholarship.
Waterloo PhD students who have completed the Perimeter Scholars International program (or equivalent), have secured a faculty member at Perimeter Institute as a supervisor, and who will be resident at PI, are eligible for the Perimeter Institute PhD Award. The department of Physics & Astronomy will consult with PI in the selection of recipients. The award value varies depending on tuition costs and other awards and funding received by the student. The goal is to ensure that all students receive total annual funding, including the PI PhD award, of $20,000 after tuition and fees.

The goal is to provide each PhD student who is normally resident at PI and who is supervised by a faculty member at PI, an award valued at up to $7,000 payable across 3 terms to ensure the net amount each student receives after tuition and fees is $20,000.
