Senate graduate student member elections update
On behalf of the University of Waterloo Senate, the Secretariat is pleased to announce the results of the Senate graduate student member elections for the 2025-2026 governance year.
Thanks to all candidates who allowed their names to stand for election, as well all those who took the time to cast their votes. Participation in university governance is an incredibly important form of service to our institution, and your willingness to serve our community in this way is greatly appreciated.
Please note that terms are scheduled to begin May 1, 2025, however, a recent recommendation to amend Senate By-laws 1, 2 and 3 received first reading at the January 27, 2025 Senate meeting. The amendments would change the governance year to September 1 – August 31. Should these amendments be carried at the March 3, 2025 Senate meeting, all new Senator-elects will begin their terms on September 1, 2025.
An election report will be presented to Senate at the March 3, 2025 meeting for information. The Secretariat will reach out to all Senator-elects separately with on-boarding information in the coming weeks, as well as to confirm the beginning of their term in respect to the pending By-law amendments.
