Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) is excited to announce the launch of new guidance on the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) for graduate students and supervisors. As GenAI tools, such as large language models (LLMs), continue to evolve, their application in academia brings both innovative possibilities and important considerations for academic integrity and responsible use.

Convocation is a momentous occasion that honours the dedication and achievements of graduates. Family and friends come together with the University of Waterloo community to celebrate graduating students as they embark on exciting new adventures.

The University of Waterloo is aware of the distressing events in Bangladesh, where peaceful student-led protests against the recently reinstated government job quotas have escalated into violence resulting in casualties, government-sanctioned curfews and disruptions to internet and cellular services. 

Following up on the recent federal budget announcement, the Tri-agencies have advised that the increases in the Tri-agency scholarship amounts will take effect September 1, 2024 for current and new master’s and doctoral recipients.

On Wednesday, June 5, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs hosted a dinner reception for spring 2024 doctoral graduates, their guests, and supervisors. 

As part of a comprehensive package to address the cost-of-living challenges and enhance Canada’s research capabilities, significant increases have been made to fund master's and doctoral student scholarships and postdoctoral fellowships.
