Nearly 2000 of you have passed through our lecture rooms, laboratories and field courses. We conferred the first B.Sc. degree in Earth Sciences in 1969, the first M.Sc. in 1973, and the first Ph.D. in 1975. We have grown considerably since those early days when the University of Waterloo was a fledgling campus situated on the city limits of Waterloo.
In celebrating the department's 50th anniversary in 2015, we have much to look back on. Perhaps our biggest accomplishments that make us most proud are our alumni and all that you have achieved in your careers and lives.
We are always interested in knowing what you have done since your days at the university. Our doors are always open to you to return to campus for a visit. We value your advice and welcome your insights on how we can best respond to the needs of our profession.
We also invite you to work with us any time to prepare short write-ups on news, industry trends, or career notes for your fellow Waterloo earth scientists – past and present.
