Volunteer Oportunity: Tree Surveying

Monday, October 28, 2013 12:00 am - Tuesday, December 31, 2013 12:00 am EDT (GMT -04:00)

LOVE TREES? WANT SURVEY EXPERIENCE?

Since spring 2013, volunteers have been meeting every week to inventory the trees on Waterloo campus.

Two students measuring dbh on a tree.

So far we have found endangered species (Butternut), native species (Black Cherry), introduced species (Norway Maple), invasive species (Buckthorn), and other interesting species like a Katsura tree!

This project provides an opportunity to experience survey work and learn valuable skills of measuring and identifying trees. It will look great on your resume for future job opportunities!

The project is continuing through the winter. If you are interested in participating, contact the Ecology Lab by emailing us or dropping by EV1-135.
