The Ecology Lab is geared towards providing the Faculty of Environment staff and students with the necessary tools and equipment for research, along with developing practical ecological field skills. This is why the Ecology Lab organizes and runs workshops where we explore a variety of topics and field techniques.
Currently these include identification techniques of:
- Trees
- Herbaceous species
- Invertebrates
- Birds
- Butterflies
Introduction to procedures in:
- Water Quality Testing
- Soil Sampling Analysis
- Other Equipment Demonstrations e.g. GPS
- Dendrochronology
What practical field skills do you want to learn? Please let us know what you would like to explore. These workshops are intended to be open to both the beginners and experts by creating an engaging, social and comfortable environment. We want to emphasize that this is an experience for sharing and integrating knowledge, experience, and information with one another.
Workshops will be hosted in a variety of topics. Information will be sent out on the environment email list, and posted throughout the Environment buildings. Keep an eye out each term!
