Faculty of Engineering (FoE) Term Activity Report (TAR) Awards

The ECE Department recognizes graduate students who demonstrate strong academic performance, research excellence, and meaningful contributions to the ECE community through the Faculty of Engineering Term Activity Report Awards.

The ECE Graduate Studies Committee reviews eligible students once per term based on performance from the previous term.

Eligibility requirements

To be considered, students:

  • must be enrolled full-time within the designated program time limits during the term being evaluated.
  • must have an overall average of at least 80%.
  • must have submitted a TAR for the previous term, with a satisfactory evaluation.
  • must complete the TAR accurately, with all relevant information included in the appropriate sections.
  • must have no incomplete (INC) or did not write (DNW) grades.
  • cannot be on probationary status.

Preference will be given to students whose supervisor has nominated them in their TAR and who respond in writing to the nomination within the TAR.

Award limits

  • MASc students may receive a maximum of 2 awards.
  • PhD students may receive a maximum of 4 awards.

Meeting these minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee an award; it only ensures that a student is included in the pool of eligible candidates from which awardees are chosen.

Important note

Part-time students are not eligible for awards, scholarships, or OSAP, and must be self-funded.
