First-year students
Waterloo Engineering offers guaranteed entrance scholarships to undergraduate students entering their first year with a minimum admission average of 85%. All incoming first-year students are automatically considered for financial awards, with no separate application required (except for the Suncor Emerging Leaders Award).
Upper-year students
Upper-year undergraduate students seeking financial assistance are encouraged to visit the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office.
Featured scholarships and awards for ECE Students
Power Engineering Undergraduate Scholarship
Two or more scholarships, valued at $2,000 each, are awarded annually to outstanding fourth-year Electrical and Computer Engineering undergraduate students who are registered in at least one fourth-year power engineering elective course.
Dan and Anik Colquhoun Award
This $2,500 award is given annually to a full-time third- or fourth-year student in Computer, Electrical, or Systems Design Engineering who has demonstrated resilience in overcoming a personal or medical challenge.
Ritwika Bhattacharya Memorial Scholarship
One $1,500 scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student who identifies as a woman and is enrolled in Electrical or Computer Engineering, with the highest overall average at the end of their second year.
Bernie Roehl Award
This award, valued at up to $1,000, is given to an undergraduate student entering their second, third, or fourth year in Electrical & Computer Engineering or Software Engineering. The recipient must have above-average academic standing and show involvement in university extracurricular activities.
BRP Capstone Design Award
Two awards, valued at $10,000 each, are given to undergraduate student teams in their fourth year who are undertaking a Capstone Design Project—one award for a team in Electrical Engineering and one for a team in Mechanical Engineering.
