Electrical and computer engineering professor, Shesha Jayaram, received the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Outstanding Achievement Award. This award honors an individual who has made an outstanding contribution in the application of electricity to industry in accordance with the scope of the IEEE Industry Applications Society. This award was first presented in 1969. She is the first female to win this award in 54 years!
Professor Jayaram has made significant contributions to the applications of high voltage engineering and the integrity of electrical insulation in power grids. She is an internationally recognized expert in the field and has more than 350 publications to her credit. Professor Jayaram is a recipient of the 2021 Electrostatic Society of America (ESA) Lifetime Achievement Award, and a 2020 ESA Distinguished Service Award.
