The 45th IEEE International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic (ISMVL) will be coming to Waterloo in May. The symposium, which covers aspects of multiple-valued logic and soft computing, attracts researchers from around the world in fields ranging from discrete mathematics and theoretical computer science to microelectronic circuits and emerging devices. In recent years, attendees have also presented advances in quantum and reversible computing as well as data mining.

This year’s scientific program will include 35 peer-reviewed papers as well as invited lectures by three prominent researchers. Dr. Mark Howard (Institute for Quantum Computing) will discuss the necessity for contextuality in quantum computing. Prof. Matt Valeriote (McMaster University) will talk about algebras and algorithms. Finally, Prof. Michitaka Kameyama (Tohoku University) will be honoured for his long service and contributions to the field and will deliver an address on intelligent integrated systems.

ISMVL has been held annually since 1971, and is sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society’s Technical Committee on Multiple-Valued Logic. The organizers are grateful for a financial contribution from the University of Waterloo Faculty of Engineering.

The symposium will be held at the newly renovated Fed Hall May 18-20, 2015. For more information, please check out the symposium website or contact the General Chair, Prof. Vincent Gaudet.
