The conference chairs ran their first Gamification 2013 Hangout discussing, What’s New in Gamification. Viewers could join in online with their questions and comments using our conference tag #gameit13.
The Q&A covered use of gamification in healthcare, the differences between gamification and games and intrinsic versus extrinsic rewards. The panel also discussed the term 'gamification' and whether businesses would be better served using terms like "motivational design" or "engagement" when proposing gamification programs due to the perception of 'games' not being serious.
We also got some fantastic questions via Twitter. You can view the full hangout on our YouTube channel or press play below.
The panel included (from left to right): Kevin Harrigan, Professor of Computer Game Design, University of Waterloo; Lennart Nacke, Associate Professor, University of Ontario Institute of Technology GAMER Lab; and Neil Randall, University of Waterloo Games Institute and University of Waterloo Professor.
