As part of the Water Institute's WaterTalk lecture series professor Max Maurer, head of the Urban Water Management Department at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science & Technology (Eawag), presents, "Data instead of concrete? Exploring the potential of digitalization in urban drainage." 

We are pleased to announce that the Water Institute will host Elsevier's renowned annual Water Research Conference. Welcoming water colleagues from around the world, the conference will focus on the role of water technology innovation in the blue economy.

The 2017 Water Institute RBC distinguished lecturer, Quentin Grafton, will present Innovation, Incentives and Infrastructure in the Blue Economy as part of  Elsevier's fourth International Water Research Conference, hosted by the Water Institute. 

The Water Institute begins its 2017-2018 WaterTalks lecture series with , head of the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management and professor of Hydrology and Water Resources at Vienna University of Technology, who is presenting "Emerging outcomes from a cross-disciplinary doctoral programme on water resource systems."

A Tale of Two Porosities: Exploring Why Contaminant Transport Doesn’t Always Behave the Way it Should

As part of the Water Institute's WaterTalk lecture series Kevin Boyle, professor of agricultural and applied economics and director of the Program in Real Estate at Virginia Tech, presents, "From the Exxon Valdez oil spill to the BP deep water horizon oil spill: A story of economic damages from four major environmental contamination events."

The Transformative Technologies and Smart-Watersheds Research (TTSW) group, led by Professor Claude Duguay, are initiating work with industrial partners on the design of a microsatellite water management mission concept. Global Water Futures team members and the broader end-user community have an opportunity to help define the science objectives and observational requirements of the satellite mission.

The annual UN World Water Day in Waterloo is on March 22, 2017. This year's theme is Nature for Water,  exploring how we can use nature to overcome the water challenges of the 21st century.
