Launched in 2017, the annual President’s Community Impact Awards recognize and celebrate those who embody the spirit of innovation and contribute to making Waterloo region strong and prosperous.
Robin Mazumder, a PhD candidate in cognitive neuroscience at the University of Waterloo, was announced as one of the 2018 winners at the President's Holiday Dinner on December 13.
Robin has a long record community leadership, including serving on the City of Kitchener Cycling & Trails Advisory Committee and serving as Guest Librarian to the Kitchener Public Library in 2016. Robin also partnered with the Waterloo Region Local Health Integration Network and the Kitchener Downtown Community Health Centre to make light therapy lamps available at all KPL locations and to the Waterloo campus.
Robin is the first graduate student to be honoured with a President's Community Impact Award.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
