We calculated how much it costs to reduce one ton CO2 emissions by using a novel electrolytic ammonia production technology to replace conventional ammonia production in three different sectors in Canada, i.e., fertilizer, hydrogen domestic use and hydrogen export. The work is now open-access in Applied Energy.
The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images of Swayam's samples are now on display on the wall outside the TEM room in Quantum-Nano Fabrication and Characterization Facility (QNFCF). Please go check it out in person! (photo credit: Nicki Shaw)
Waterloo News featured our group's work on hydrogen and ammonia. You can find more information in the full article.
We had a great time discussing clean ammonia for energy storage, combustion, and different novel production methods in the workshop!
A new paper titled "Electrocatalytic Disproportionation of Nitric Oxide Toward Efficient Nitrogen Fixation" is now published in Advanced Energy Materials. Using a bipolar membrane, the process effectively converts nitric oxide to ammonia and nitrates. We analyzed the techno-economics of the process. Congratulations, Jinhe!
XiaoYu is invited to talk in the 5th Canada’s Innovation Corridor Summit, "Transition to Net-Zero" on June 29, 2022. His talk "Hydrogen production, storage, and distribution for net-zero transition" will share his experience and insights on producing, storing, and distributing hydrogen, and discuss how we can use hydrogen to speed up the transition towards a net-zero economy. He will also highlight results from relevant projects in our research group.
