In the 14th International Green Energy Conference, Mike and Ankit presented their works "Hybrid battery and hydrogen energy storage for a 100% wind power microgrid" and "Sustainability assessment of ethylene production from waste sewage sludge," respectively. And Mike won the "Best Student Presentation Honorable Mention"! Congratulations to both Mike and Ankit!
Our paper Electrified ammonia production as a commodity and energy storage medium to connect the food, energy, and trade sectors is accepted in iScience! Congratulations to Milind and Rithu!
XiaoYu is invited to talk in the 5th Canada’s Innovation Corridor Summit, "Transition to Net-Zero" on June 29, 2022. His talk "Hydrogen production, storage, and distribution for net-zero transition" will share his experience and insights on producing, storing, and distributing hydrogen, and discuss how we can use hydrogen to speed up the transition towards a net-zero economy. He will also highlight results from relevant projects in our research group.
Professor XiaoYu Wu joined the editorial board of the International Journal of Green Energy. Congratulations!
The Canada’s Rising Stars in Electrochemical Systems Symposium will take place virtually on April 28 - 29, 2022. XiaoYu is invited to give a talk on Mixed ionic-electronic conducting membranes for CO2 reduction and chemical production. The talk will be at 12:15 pm on April 28. Please check it out!
Mike Giovanniello, a research assistant in our group, will join the Technology and Policy Program at MIT as a master student in the Fall. Mike has been working on hybrid-energy storage systems for renewable microgrids since May 2020. Good luck at MIT, Mike!
Congratulations to Faris, our first MASc student in the group for submitting his master thesis! You can find his thesis "Co-production of hydrogen and ethylene in an oxygen permeable membrane reactor." Best of luck to Faris for his future career!
Greener Water Production: We receives the Water Institute (WI) and the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) inaugural joint seed grant to study the electrochemical treatment of 1,4-dioxane and similar contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in water. The goal is to develop a cost-effective method to remove contaminants in water and to understand the overall environmental impacts and benefits of the process.
On November 11, XiaoYu will be joining the Academic Roundtable at the Hydrogen Impact 2021 Virtual Conference. He will discuss about the production and distribution of hydrogen and its carriers. At Greener Production Group, we are developing novel technologies and analyses on hydrogen and ammonia production, storage, and distribution.
