About the Human Rights Equity and Inclusion Department Review

The University of Waterloo is undertaking an organizational review of the Office of Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion (HREI).

A team of external experts has been engaged to review and evaluate the HREI portfolio at the University of Waterloo, with an emphasis on organizational structure and leadership, partnerships, internal collaborations, and the delivery of services and programs. They will advise on strengths, challenges, and opportunities the University should consider to ensure the human rights, equity and inclusion needs of the Waterloo community are met in an effective and progressive manner.

The review team is currently engaging in broad, campus-wide virtual consultations with stakeholder groups from across the Waterloo community, including students, faculty and staff. 

Through this website members of the Waterloo community can learn about the review panel members, review related communications and find out how to get involved and provide input as the review moves forward. Periodic updates will be posted as the review moves forward.

The current mandate of HREI includes working to bring members of our campus community together to facilitate understanding and address systemic barriers to equity, inclusion, and decolonization through education and awareness of the four offices:
