This table shows the percent of first-year students in September 1996 who received any University of Waterloo undergraduate degree by 2003. The program categories shown in the table are those from September 1996.

The degree completion rates shown are somewhat understated for the University of Waterloo. Students who study for one or two years at the University of Waterloo then transfer to a program at another university, say medicine, which the University of Waterloo does not offer, are computed as not receiving a degree at the University of Waterloo. The degree completion rates shown here are not the same as those provided in the Macleans annual ranking issue. Macleans computes the degree completion rate of students from second year to accommodate the fact that some university programs do not require students to choose their program until year two.

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities has calculated the degree completion rates shown in these tables.

The 2004 default rates are the percentage of students (undergraduate and graduate) who last received Ontario Student Loans in the 2001/02 academic year and who defaulted on their repayment obligations approximately two years after graduation. Students who default on their loans are reported at the last institution/program they attended in 2001/02.

uWaterloo provides information to students about financial aid through the Student Awards Office.

The work experience students receive as part of our co-operative education programs provide them with funding while studying and good jobs with good incomes after graduation. For more information about our co-op programs, visit the Co-op Education and Career Services website.

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities has calculated the OSAP default rates shown in these tables.
