University of Essex Delegation Visit

University of Waterloo President Feridun Hamdullahpur, recently met with a delegation from the University of Essex, led by Vice-Chancellor and President Anthony Forster. Discussions focused on addressing global challenges for the benefit of individuals and communities, by bringing the brightest minds together to create viable solutions for the future. Advancing research projects and expanding on joint programming related to graduate studies were top of mind, as both presidents discussed the use of theme-based partnerships, as an ideal vehicle for potential collaborations.

Waterloo International was pleased to welcome the international Global Engagement delegation of senior higher education administrators. Engaging speakers, and the ensuing discussions, explored the University of Waterloo's leadership in co-operative education and entrepreneurship.

Xiamen University visit

On Oct 17, three delegates from Xiamen University visited our campus. Waterloo International and the Department of French Studies at the University of Waterloo met with the delegates with great discussions on joint academic programs in French.

Several members of the German Bundestag representing the Digital Agenda Committee visited the University of Waterloo today. Engaging discussions centered around research into Artificial Intelligence, digitization and AI ethics, and bridged into work integrated learning and entrepreneurship. The group also had the opportunity to visit Velocity during their time in Waterloo.

Waterloo International was pleased to host delegates from Beijing Jiao Tong University (School of Electronic and Information Engineering). The group participated in interesting discussions related to learning teaching skills and the development mechanisms for faculty members. They also met with senior leaders from the faculties of Engineering and Science to further understand the organizational structures of the faculties.

Today we welcomed a visiting leadership team from Nanjing University of Finance and Economics. Highlights included impactful discussions on the successful Environment and Business 2+2 program that has been operating for over 10 years. While here, the group also met and engaged in lively dialogue with current students enrolled in the program.

Waterloo International was pleased to have hosted a delegation from the University of the Witswatersrand, Johannesburg on Septemeber 16, 2019. The group of administrators made their first stop at the University of Waterloo to learn best practices in Canadian higher education with the goal of becoming a hub of postgraduate training in Africa. A series of productive discussions with various administrative counterparts from Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs, the Registrar's Office and the Student Success office lead to valuable staff connections.

Waterloo International was pleased to host the Consul General of Israel in Toronto and her team on September 12, 2019. Many inspiring discussions took place with Charmaine Dean, Vice-President, Research and International, Joanne Shoveller, Vice-President, Advancement and Ian Rowlands, Associate-Vice President, International along with other members of several interdisciplinary research centres at the University of Waterloo.

Today delegates from Copperbelt University and the Zambian High Commission visited the University of Waterloo. Discussions focused on Academic, Research and Entrepreneurship, in particular the many existing research connections in Applied Health Sciences.
