Davis Centre Library has gone through some exciting renovations in the past few months. Most of the renovations occurred in the entrance part of the library. Please take a walk to Davis Centre Library and check out its new look! Here are some of the highlights from the renovations.
New home for the Currents! The Currents are no longer housed in the basement. They are now located in the new reading lounge right beside the entrance. We also reduced the number of Currents from 140 titles to 57 titles based on patron’s needs. The Currents are now sorted by titles instead of call numbers, which makes it easier for patrons to find an item.
New home for Waterloo Reads and New Books! We also moved our popular books collection and new books from the high giant book shelves across the silent study room to a few lower brand-new shelving units in the reading lounge area. Favourite books get to be displayed separately and changed from time to time. The board game collection was also added to this section recently. Patrons could do some causal reading or play some interesting board games while taking a study break in the lounge!
The Information Systems & Technology service desk has also moved! IST staff welcomed their new office in the south east corner of the Davis library. They also moved with all the printers! This significantly reduced the noises from the printers in the previous study area, which provides a quieter study environment for the students. In the meantime, Circulation Services staff are busy with answering questions from patrons such as “where did the printers go?”.
More to come! We are also eagerly anticipating renovations in the following areas:
- Long-awaited universal washroom
- Upgraded Circulation Service desk
- Rearranged staff work room
- Additional student furniture
