It is the time for Extended Hours again! Starting November 27 and running through to December 22, we are in the Extended Hours period for the Fall 2016 term. We have summarized a few important points for students and staff to be taken away during the Extended Hours.
For Students
- More hours to prepare for final group presentations, assignments and exams. Davis Centre Library is open 24 hours except for Sundays (closed Sundays from 2:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.). Dana Porter Library is open 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. 7 days a week.
- Different study zones to conduct various activities. The Library currently offers three kinds of study zones to meet students’ study needs: Silent Study Zone, Quiet Study Zone, and Group Study Zone. Group study rooms and single study rooms are also available to students, which provide a more private setting.
- Take breaks to reduce stress. Exams can be stressful. Circulation Services knows that and offers a few board games for students to borrow at the Desk.
For Staff
- Service desks and related services are still available at regular times (Porter desk is closed at 11:00 p.m. and Davis desk at Midnight). However, you may see more books signing out or coming in at the Circulation Desk.
- Students will stay late at the Library and some of them may also stay overnight. Please make sure they follow the Library guidelines on food, drink, cell phones and noise.
- We want to offer as much help as we can to help students to survive the exam period. Please continue to provide excellent service as we always do to our patrons and refer them when needed.
- Below are some of the questions that we may receive from students during the Extended Hours. Please think about them and be prepared.
- Where can I get a doctor’s note so that I can defer my exam?
- I am working on my final essay and need some help.
- I feel really stressed right now. Where can I get help?
- Where can I book a room for my group to practice our presentation?
Thanks for reading and Happy Extended Hours!
