Access research resources from a Linux/Unix machine

Note: all off-campus access must use a Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Files

  • files are stored on files.math.uwaterloo.ca\UWuserid

    • Use only the first eight characters of your UWuserid

    • Connect with samba as in smb://files.math.uwaterloo.ca

  • ​​login using

    • ​NEXUS as the domain

    • the first 8 characters of your UWuserid

    • your NEXUS password

Windows servers

  • gives you access to a personal desktop on the Windows server
  • type:
    • rdesktop windows.math.uwaterloo.ca
  • enter your University of Waterloo credentials
