Accessing the Windows student server

Requirements

Procedure

Connecting from a Windows Computer

  • click Start and then search for Remote Desktop Connection and hit enter
  • type in windows.student.math.uwaterloo.ca under the Computer field and click Connect
  • click Use another account then enter nexus\UWuserid in the User name field and your Nexus password in the Password field
  • click Ok

Connecting from a Mac Computer

  • download and install Microsoft Remote Desktop (MRD) from the App Store
  • open MRD and click New on the top menu bar
  • enter a name of your choice under Connection name. Then enter windows.student.math.uwaterloo.ca under PC name.
  • untick Start session in full screen and Use all monitors. Then close the window
  • double click on your chosen connection name from the main menu. This will launch the session.
  • enter your Nexus username and password to sign in to the server

Connecting from an Android Device

  • download and install Microsoft Remote Desktop (MRD) from the Google Play Store
  • open MRD and click the plus icon on the top menu bar
  • enter windows.math.uwaterloo.ca under PC name and click Save on the top menu bar
  • tap on the connection on the main menu to launch the session
  • enter your Nexus username and password to sign in to the server

Connecting from an iOS Device

  • download and install Microsoft Remote Desktop (MRD) from the App Store
  • open MRD and click the plus icon on the top menu bar
  • enter windows.math.uwaterloo.ca under PC name and click Save on the top menu bar
  • tap on the connection on the main menu to launch the session
  • enter your Nexus username and password to sign in to the server
