Requirements
- users must have a student account
- users must have valid nexus credentials
- Virtual Private Network (VPN) must be running if the user is attempting to connect from an off campus location
Procedure
Connecting from a Windows Computer
- click Start and then search for Remote Desktop Connection and hit enter
- type in windows.student.math.uwaterloo.ca under the Computer field and click Connect
- click Use another account then enter nexus\UWuserid in the User name field and your Nexus password in the Password field
- click Ok
Connecting from a Mac Computer
- download and install Microsoft Remote Desktop (MRD) from the App Store
- open MRD and click New on the top menu bar
- enter a name of your choice under Connection name. Then enter windows.student.math.uwaterloo.ca under PC name.
- untick Start session in full screen and Use all monitors. Then close the window
- double click on your chosen connection name from the main menu. This will launch the session.
- enter your Nexus username and password to sign in to the server
Connecting from an Android Device
- download and install Microsoft Remote Desktop (MRD) from the Google Play Store
- open MRD and click the plus icon on the top menu bar
- enter windows.math.uwaterloo.ca under PC name and click Save on the top menu bar
- tap on the connection on the main menu to launch the session
- enter your Nexus username and password to sign in to the server
Connecting from an iOS Device
- download and install Microsoft Remote Desktop (MRD) from the App Store
- open MRD and click the plus icon on the top menu bar
- enter windows.math.uwaterloo.ca under PC name and click Save on the top menu bar
- tap on the connection on the main menu to launch the session
- enter your Nexus username and password to sign in to the server
