Terms of service
Undergraduates and Instructors:
- this service is open to all UW undergraduates and instructors
- instructors should contact MFCF regarding expected system load and software needs
Graduate students and researchers:
- please ask your Faculty IT group about computing resources for research so this service for undergraduates doesn't become overloaded
File storage characteristics:
- you need to be responsible for keeping a safe copy and having a plan in case of service outages
- default file space is fast for active work, but is volatile and not backed up
- files are moved to an AUTO_DELETE folder in your home directory after a week
- AUTO_DELETE folder contents may be deleted after a few months (or much sooner if space fills up)
- copy important things to the _NetHome folder or personal OneDrive storage for safe-keeping
- the _NetHome folder you see in your account is actually a link to the central storage service provided by your home Faculty
- read the file _ALERT.txt (or similar name) in your account for further information
