The Ethernet MAC address is a set of six numbers and/or letters separated by colons (e.g. AA:11:2B:34:BB:D1).
Windows
Windows 10 and 11
- connect to the wired ethernet connection (i.e. dock or ethernet adapter)
- click Start
- in search box type: cmd
- in the command window type: getmac /v
In both cases, report the Physical Address that appears in the Ethernet line.
Macintosh with built in Ethernet port
- click the Apple icon in the upper left-hand corner
- click System Settings
- in the left-hand pane click Network
- in the upper right-hand pane click Ethernet
- in the top right-hand pane find the option called details beside Ethernet
- in the bottom left hand pane click the Hardware option and report the MAC Address that appears there
Macintosh with Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter
- connect the Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter
- click the Apple icon in the upper left-hand corner
- click System Settings
- in the left-hand pane click Network
- in the upper right-hand pane click Thunderbolt Ethernet
- in the bottom right-hand pane report the MAC address that appears in the Ethernet section
