For many years, University of Waterloo (UW) students with an interest in aging have had an annual opportunity to meet and share their research at the Symposium on Aging Research (SoAR). While SoAR has been a very successful format, UW did not have a mechanism for ongoing networking and communication among students focused on aging.
Thus, the Waterloo Aging Network for Trainees (WANT) was created. WANT is a student-led network, initiated by Tara Kuhn and Karen El Hajj, which has connected students and post-doctoral fellows across faculties at the University of Waterloo with interests in aging research and innovation. This network is open to all University of Waterloo undergraduates, graduates, and post-doctoral fellows.
WANT provides the opportunity to network and share ideas across disciplines in an environment where students can discuss all aspects of aging research and innovation. This includes current and future challenges and opportunities, while providing inter-disciplinary perspectives.
WANT is lead by Tara Kuhn and Karen El Hajj. WANT currently meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 3p.m. Our next meeting will be held on October 24th, from 3-4 p.m. in EXP 1686. For more information or to join our mailing list, please send us an email
