Inspired by the Music and Memory project, researchers at the PiDC Alliance were pleased to donate more than 20 iPods and other Mp3 players to staff at the Bloomington Cove Long Term Care facility on behalf of the Partnering Together for Change Culture Change Coalition.

How did this come about?

During the Discovery process, Partnering Together for Change members talked about the ways in which they would like to use music to enrich the lives of persons living with dementia in the home.

Researchers at the PiDC Alliance responded.  First, we worked to start a donation campaign asking for used iPods and Mp3 players from staff, faculty and students at the University of Waterloo.  Soon, after an interview on the local CBC affiliate radio station, and some other great press, we were receiving devices from across the region. Four even came from the United States!

Congratulations to Bloomington Cove--We hope these devices help to improve the dementia care experience for everyone!
