Hi PACS! How is everyone doing? You've almost made it to the end of Winter 2020, hang in there you're doing great!

This weeks newsletter we have some exciting job opportunities, articles we think may interest you, an essay writing contest, and some great resources to help with working at home! 

Just because we are social distancing doesn't mean we can't still  talk! We miss seeing your faces on campus and want to keep in touch in the best way we know how... social media! Make sure you are following @pacsuwaterloo on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook! We have been having lots of fun going into the lives of PACS students, and graduates, through takeovers on Instagram! 

Opportunities

Lead and Workshop Facilitators

The Ripple Effect Education (TREE) is hiring for Lead Workshop Facilitators and Workshop Facilitators! 

TREE develops and facilitates skill-building programs to give youth the tools they need to resolve conflict in healthy and independent ways. TREE has worked with over 4,700 youth in Waterloo Region since 2016.

Applications can be found here and are due April 27!

Peace Innovators Scholarship and Mentoring Program 

This collaborative program between Kindred Credit Union, The Ripple Effect Education (TREE), and the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement, equips young leaders with skills to tackle a problem they're passionate about in their community.

The deadline to apply is April 30, 2020. Students can apply here.

Peace and Human Security Intern 
Project Ploughshares is hiring two paid interns to work part time (4 days/ 32 hours a week for 8-12 weeks)!

Fraser Institute - Student Essay Contest 
This year for the annual Fraser Institute Student Essay Contest, students are tasked to explore the ideas of Milton Friedman and uncover the connections between economic freedom and other freedoms. 

A video series and the Essential Milton Friedman primer which can be accessed for free at www.essentialscholars.org will serve as an important resource for students. 

Both undergraduate and graduate students have the chance to win cash, have their ideas published and learn about a key economic thinker of our time. 

The rules, essay guidelines, and past examples of winning essays can be found on the website at www.studentessaycontest.org and the deadline for submissions is June 1, 2020.
