Congratulations on completing the Winter 2020 term! For some of you an extra special congratulations are in order for completing your degree! How exciting!

How is everyone doing? 

This weeks newsletter we have some exciting job opportunities, articles we think may interest you, an essay writing contest, and some great resources to help with working at home! 

This is the last newsletter of Winter 2020. But that doesn't mean we won't still be in contact ... make sure you are following @pacsuwaterloo on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook! We have been having lots of fun going into the lives of PACS students, and graduates, through takeovers on Instagram! 

Opportunities 

Project Ploughshares - Peace and Human Security Intern 
Project Ploughshares is hiring two paid interns to work part time (4 days/ 32 hours a week for 8-12 weeks)!

Fraser Institute Essay Contest 

This year for the annual Fraser Institute Student Essay Contest, students are tasked to explore the ideas of Milton Friedman and uncover the connections between economic freedom and other freedoms. 

A video series and the Essential Milton Friedman primer which can be accessed for free here will serve as an important resource for students. 

Both undergraduate and graduate students have the chance to win cash, have their ideas published and learn about a key economic thinker of our time. 

The rules, essay guidelines, and past examples of winning essays can be found on the website here, the deadline for submissions is June 1, 2020

West Suburban Faith-Based Peace Coalition - Peace Essay Contest 

The West Suburban Faith-Based Peace Coalition is again sponsoring a Peace Essay Contest with a $1,000.00 award to the winner, $500 for the runner-up, and $300 for third place.
The deadline to apply is April 30, 2020. Students can apply here.
 

To enter the contest and obtain Peace Essay rules:

Send an email by June 1, 2020, with “Peace Essay Request” in the subject box, to contest coordinator Walt Zlotow at zlotow@hotmail.com

Include your name, mailing address, email address, phone number, and age (if younger than 18). Your application acceptance as a contestant will be acknowledged in an email that contains your assigned four-digit essay number.

12 PACS Students Selected for CONAPP 2020 (now 2021) 

Congratulations to 12 PACS students on being selected for the CONAPP 2020 conference in Gettysburg Pennsylvania! Unfortunately, the conference has been postponed to summer 2021. However, the good news you can still read about the work of these 12 students on our website!!
