The Holocaust as History and Warning: Public Lecture

Date: Monday, February 6th

As Snyder will explain, we cannot afford to confine the Holocaust to museums and memory. If we do not understand the lessons of the Holocaust, an unprecedented crime could become a precedent for the future.

Confederation and Indigenous Treaty Making in Canada
Date: Saturday, Feb 11th
Time: 7:00PM
Location: St. Jerome's, SJ2 RM 1004


In this keynote address, eminent historian J.R. Miller — an Officer of the Order of Canada (2014) and recipient of the 2014 Killam Prize in the Humanities and the 2010 SSHRC Gold Medal for Achievement in Research — will discuss the historical foundation for relations between Indigenous peoples and governments in Canada.

Disability and Access in the Academy : Moving Together Towards a Theory of Crip Spacetime
Date: Monday, February 13th

Speaker Margaret Price will present findings from interviews with disabled faculty to illustrate ways that precarity manifests for disabled faculty, but also ways that we can work toward greater justice, not only for disabled individuals, but also within the discipline of disability studies itself. She draws attention to information and strategies that are applicable to all members of the University community.

Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies (SMF) Symposium: Call for Proposals
Location: University of Waterloo
Application Deadline: February 21st


The SMF Research Symposium Committee invites proposals for presentations addressing topics in the study of sexuality, relationships, and/or families.Presentations will be 20 minutes in length, followed by a 10 minute discussion. The Committee encourages research that approaches the conference topics from diverse disciplinary approaches; interdisciplinary and critical perspectives are particularly welcome.

Proposals are encouraged to reflect critically on any number of integrated topics, perspectives, and contexts.

Action Against Hunger - Internship Opportunity

Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organization that takes decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger.

There are currently three internships of a 3 month duration available in New York, and one available in Washington DC.
