Walking with Our Sisters


Date: Thursday, November 23rd
Time: 4:30PM - 9:00PM
Location: The Gathering Place by the Grand


A bus is being offered to all who wish to attend Walking with Our Sisters. Walking with Our Sisters Six Nations is a commemorative art installation to honour missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two Spirit People. A bus will be leaving from St.Paul's University College at 4:30pm to witness the art installation Walking with Our Sisters currently at Six Nations (2593 Chiefswood, Ohsweken, ON). Transportation has been generously provided by Conrad Grebel University College.

If you would like a seat on the bus you must register.
Arab Culture in Diaspora

Date: Thursday, November 23rd

Location: University of Waterloo Art Gallery, East Campus Hall


When 'pulled up' by the roots, how does the artist re-imagine home?

Studies in Islam, at Renison University College, invites you to join Arab-Canadian artists from Syria, Jordan and Iraq as they present vivid representations of Arab culture and identity in a Canadian context as part of this free community event.
Movie Night - "Bending the Arc"

Date: Monday, November 27th
Time: 6:45PM

Waterloo Students for Partners in Health Canada is hosting a screening for "Bending the Arc".

Bending the Arc is a documentary based on Paul Farmer and Partners in Health, an inspiring documentary about the fight for global health equity.

Admission is free and snacks will be sold!
Education, Youth and Peacebuilding in Conflict-Affected Contexts Conference

Date: November 30th - December 1st
Location: Balsillie School of International Affairs, Waterloo


The conference brings together peace educators, peacebuilding scholars, as well as peace education professionals from a number of conflict-affected states to assess the state of the field of peace education as it is both understood and practiced in countries affected by violent conflict.

The Master of Peace and Conflict Studies Program will be hosting an information session to provide students the opportunity to learn more about our program.

Come learn about admission requirements, course options, internships, scholarships and more from faculty, staff and current students! And don't worry about missing dinner, food will be provided!

Be The Light: Gendered Violence Solidarity and Remembrance

Date: Tuesday, December 5st
Time: 4:30PM - 7:00PM
Location: UWaterloo Student Life Centre


  On December 5th, join members of the Waterloo community in remembering those who have lost their lives to gendered violence, and in solidarity with those who are survivors.

We will have an opening ceremony at the University of Waterloo Student Life Centre, and then there will be a procession moving along University Avenue, up King Street, and the event will conclude with a short ceremony at Waterloo Public Square. Paper lanterns will be provided to participants so we can light up the night!


This event is open to people of all genders, beliefs, and abilities. People are encouraged to join the procession at any point of the route or meet us just for the ceremony at Waterloo Public Square.

The Community Animator Finance and Operations assists with day to day bookkeeping, supports general administration and is the liaison between our event registrations and finance. The theme this year is "Pathways to Empathy: Research on Sexuality, Relationships, and Families".

PACS 301 - Settler Colonial Violence

Instructor: Dr. Narendran Kumarakulasingam

Are you willing to be comfortable with what is uncomfortable? If so, come learn, explore, and discuss how banal and extraordinary forms of settler colonial violence continue to shape your body, ways of thinking and feeling, relationship to land, and understanding of the past.

PACS 302 - Advocating for Justice and Peace

Instructor: Christopher Derksen-Hiebert

In an age of increasing economic and political transparency on one hand, and 'fake news' and the 'post-factual' society on the other, how can students, citizens, and civil society wage justice and peace? This course will equip you to take on that challenge.

This two-year program prepares advocates, activists, researchers, and leaders to engage in eeffective and ethical social change by learning:
