Katy Fulfer

Prof. Katy Fulfer is an outstanding teacher who plays a vital role in both the Gender and Social Justice and the Philosophy programs. Prof. Fulfer cultivates a caring and supportive class community. She focuses on ensuring that all students are empowered, engaged, and given the opportunity to develop. Her classes are highly collaborative and frequently include guest lecturers and class visits from community experts and practitioners.

An active and engaged graduate supervisor, Prof. Fulfer co-authors with graduate students—rare in the discipline of Philosophy—and she also mentors her students through the publication process.

Her commitment to innovation in teaching led to a successful 2024 UW-LITE Seed grant, jointly held with Prof. Kim Nguyen (Communication Arts) on ‘Designing and Implementing an Interracial Feminist co-Teaching Pedagogy.’ We are pleased to share that her excellence in teaching has been formally recognized by the faculty this year with this award.
