I graduated with an MA in Political Science from UWaterloo in 2017. Shortly after graduating, I began work as a Policy Analyst with the Department of Natural Resources (NRCan) in Ottawa, through their accelerated development program, the Policy Analyst Recruitment and Development Program (PARDP). My time at UWaterloo provided a solid foundation in politics and public policy, and I would highly recommend the MA program for prospective students who would value intimate class sizes, considerable interaction with professors, and a close-knit and lively cohort.

I currently work in federal mining policy on the Canadian Minerals and Metals Plan, a pan-Canadian plan with the vision of Canada becoming the world’s leading mining nation. Prior to this, I worked for Canada’s Office of Energy Efficiency and in a cleantech policy group. I can be contacted regarding all inquiries related to the Policy Analyst Recruitment and Development Program at NRCan, or about the MA program or career questions in general. Please reach me at michelle.vello@canada.ca.

Michelle obtained a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Waterloo in 2017.
