Content & Scope
Under the Environmental Protection Act and its regulations, hazardous waste must be managed in an environmentally safe manner.
This records class excludes the disposal of PCB waste.
The records include Ministry of Environment generator registration reports and supporting data, waste manifests, and related correspondence.

Retention Rationale
R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 347: General - Waste Management, s. 18 (6.1) requires a record of all data, analysis and other information used in the preparation of the [generator registration] report to be kept for at least three years and s.23 (2) requires that waste manifests be retained for at least two years, if a paper manifest is used.
