Renison University College proudly offers double and single accommodations for male and female students of the University of Waterloo.

Rooms at Renison are divided into three connected buildings: the Founders Building, the Link, and the Luxton Building.

Traditional style single and double rooms

The Founders and Luxton buildings are home to 170 students living in traditional style residence double and single rooms.

Traditional double style rooms are the most common room type at Renison. All the rooms have been renovated and upgraded over the past 5 years. These rooms include:

  • Single captain’s bed
  • Full dresser
  • Desk
  • Bookcase
  • Window coverings
  • Wireless internet
  • Heating
  • Service elevator

Due to the fluctuating male/female resident population, some students requesting a coed floor may be placed on a single sex floor.  Males and females have separate bathroom space on traditional co-ed floors.

Interconnecting suite style single and double rooms

The Link is home to 50 interconnecting single and double rooms. These rooms are spread over two co-ed floors.

These rooms share semi-private washroom facilities (two rooms are connected through a shared washroom). They also include:

Residence life

There are many aspects of student life at Renison University College and ultimately, it is our goal to make Renison your "Home away from Home." We don’t want to be just a room to students. We hope you will feel part of our community and grow and develop and share, just as you would in any family group. Guide to Residence Life 2017 (PDF)

Our resident students

Many resident students live at Renison for their entire academic career, a popular option at the College. Renison values the stability and enthusiasm upper year students bring to the residences and warmly welcomes up to 20% of our dorm capacity to returning students.

Students who choose to live at Renison hail from all corners of the globe. Our residents come directly to us from many countries and span the Canadian provinces and even the territories. It’s an amazing array of diversity in a small community of 220 men and women.

Resident students come from all University of Waterloo faculties. Last year's breakdown of faculties was as follows: Arts 25%, Math 30%, Engineering 20%, Health Sciences 15%, Environmental Studies 5%, Independent Studies 5%.

Students must sign for two terms - either fall/winter or fall/spring. Because of fewer numbers in the spring term, we are usually able to offer students single accommodation unless space is not available.
