Opting IN to your science student life
Science Society created the 'Student Choice Initiative Campaign', but what are you missing out on by opting out?
Science Society has always valued your freedom to opt-out of our fee and receive a refund in previous years. Typically, the fee refund would be submitted within the first month of the term, giving you some time to interact with the Science Society and get an idea of what we have to offer. With the start of the Student Choice Initiative campaign, the Science Society fee has been classified as optional. This means that you will now be able to directly opt-out of optional fees before the term begins. However, if you don’t opt-in, you won’t be able to take advantage of our services or attend any of our giveaway, social, wellness, or academic events.
On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, your Fall 2022 student fees are due and the Science Society would like to inform you of all the benefits of opting into the University of Waterloo Science Society fee. Opting-in to the Science Society fee only costs you $15.00 for the entire term and giving you full access to a wide assortment of services, events, and opportunities that value much more than $15.00.
For only $15.00, you will experience a term filled with social, academic and wellness events. In addition to access to these events, you will be able to take advantage of our free food giveaways, community building opportunities, and peer networking opportunities. This fee will be used to directly benefit and support you as an undergraduate science student and improve your student experience, as has been our standard in the past. You will get access to:
- Science Society events
- Free give aways
- Science supports and resources
We have always strived to be 100% transparent with how we allocate our student fee-based budget. In fact, all our budget meeting minutes and budget actuals can be found on our website here. If you have any suggestions or comments concerning our budget and allocation of money, please feel free to email us. If you prefer to remain anonymous, you can fill in a feedback form here. This means every undergraduate science student’s suggestions are taken seriously under careful consideration and evaluation in order to suit everyone’s needs to the best of our ability.
