The knowledge that addressing UW’s budget crisis will require job cuts is, understandably, causing anxiety among UW staff. The UWSA is committed to providing members with as much information as we can about the situation and how we can help you navigate it.
To assist you, we are hosting an online information session for UWSA members on May 7 at noon, in which we’ll discuss:
- Steps you can take now so that you’re in the best position possible, if your position were to be affected.
- What your rights are as an employee under Policy 18.
- The practicalities of what happens if you receive a termination notice.
- The ways we can support you through the process.
We want to assure you that this session is not being offered due to any insider knowledge about upcoming large-scale job cuts. We’re offering it because we think we can help answer your questions about what happens if your job at UW is affected, and what your rights and supports are.
