The UWSA is surveying members to better understand staff experiences at UW and to identify priorities for our advocacy and negotiations. Your input helps us push for improvements that matter to staff.
This year’s survey focuses on workload, the accommodations process, and your experiences with flexible and hybrid work, along with broader questions about the work environment at Waterloo.
Your participation
The survey takes about 10–15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary. You can choose not to participate, or to skip any questions you don’t want to answer.
The survey closes at 4:30 p.m. on May 29. Your responses will be saved as you go, so you can return to an incomplete survey using your unique link at any time before it closes.
Watch for your survey invitation
You’ll soon receive an email from Qualtrics (from noreply@qemailserver.com) with your own unique survey link. Sending links this way allows us to invite all members—and only members—and to send reminders to those who haven’t responded yet. Please don’t share your link with anyone else; that may prevent you from responding.
Staff whose roles are no longer eligible for UWSA membership under the new Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) will also receive a survey link. As part of our transition plan, you can still access UWSA services—including consultation—until August 31, unless you ask us to remove you.
Privacy and data security
Responses are anonymous and confidential. Your responses are not linked to you and the survey does not collect IP addresses.
Only UWSA staff (specifically the President, Communications Officer, Operations & Engagement Advisor, and Communications & Events Assistant) can access the raw data, which is stored securely in Qualtrics and will be destroyed six months after the survey closes. We will not analyze results for any groups smaller than 10 people.
How we’ll use results
We will share aggregate results and select de-identified comments with our Board, members, and—when it supports our advocacy—with the University. We may also share findings publicly (e.g., annual report, website, social media). You can indicate whether we may use any of your comments.
If you have questions, please feel free to ask!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Your voice strengthens our work and helps build a better workplace for all staff.
