Staff Relations Committee (SRC) members participate in the behind-the-scenes work of establishing and revising University-level policies that impact staff. They are also involved in ensuring that Policy 18 - Staff Employment is adhered to in any reorganizations that may occur during their term on SRC.
What’s involved
The Staff Relations Committee currently holds two meetings a month: one to discuss policies and issues impacting staff; and another to review any workplace reorganizations.
The staff member at large is entitled to the equivalent of one day release time from regular work duties to attend to SRC matters each term. Preparation time for meetings is approximately two hours a month. There will be months with higher or lower demand; overall this has been found to be sufficient release time. If you are selected, your manager will receive a memo outlining the important work of this committee and the release time you are entitled to as a member.
Qualifications
In selecting an applicant to recommend, the Appointments Committee will look for a strong focus on staff advocacy, critical thinking skills, and a perspective reflecting the diversity of voices represented at UW.
