The UWSA is seeking nominations for two important leadership roles: The president-elect and four directors to help lead the association for the next three years.
Presidents and directors make a real difference to the association and its members
- The president sets short-term and advocacy priorities, supervises the UWSA's day-to-day activities, and sets the tone for the association.
- Directors set long-term goals for the association, provide important financial and governance oversight, and safeguard the UWSA's future.
UWSA leadership is a great professional development opportunity
As either president or director, you’ll learn a lot about how the university runs and work with people from across UW. You’ll get training in non-profit governance, meeting facilitation, leadership, and more. Presidents spend a year supervising three full-time staff and training the president-elect, and can take UW's leadership training workshops.
Eligibility
UWSA leadership is open to all UWSA members, including contract staff. Candidates and their nominators must be active members at the time of nomination. Nominations close September 27.
Keep in mind:
- The three-year director term lengths are a goal and a maximum: Directors may end their terms early for all kinds of reasons, so contract staff are welcome! A term of at least one year will allow for directors to make meaningful contributions.
- Presidential candidates, however, do need to be able to commit to a full three-year term and a 100% secondment in the second year.
How to run
- Find three UWSA members to support your nomination, and then fill out the nomination form on our website.
- When you do that, you’ll be prompted to fill out a candidate profile.
- Once your nomination is complete, you’ll be invited to the Meet the Candidates event at noon on October 3. If you’re unable to attend, you can send a video message.
Nominations are due by 4:00 p.m. on September 27.
